Islamic World in need of unity more than ever before: Envoy
The Iranian ambassador to Turkey said on Thursday that the World of Islam is more than ever before in need of unity and solidarity to alleviate the sufferings and calamities of the Islamic Ummah.
Speaking at an Iftar reception (fast breaking ceremony) at a mosque in Istanbul, Mohammad Ibrahim Taherian Fard termed as regrettable recent events in occupied lands and massacre of Palestinian people by the Zionist regime.
He said it was essential for both Iran and Turkey to see to the massacre of Palestinians and voice their strong opposition to the United States’ illegal decision to relocate embassy from Tel Aviv to Quds al-Sharif.
He expressed hope that the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) due to open in Istanbul today with participation of high ranking officials of the Member States would serve to strengthen unity and conversion among each and every Muslim in the World of Islam and neutralize the attempts by the enemies of Muslims to advance their brutal goals particularly the continuity of occupation and massacre of Palestinian people.
The Iranian envoy also underscored the importance of deepening relations between Iran and Turkey in political, economic and cultural fields.
