Israel accelerated its collapse with attack on Iran’s consulate: Top IRGC general
The second-in-command of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Israel’s terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital of Damascus will accelerate the regime’s demise.
“The evil nature of the world’s villains causes them to take actions that will accelerate their collapse, and this terrorist attack [in Damascus] will also speed up the decline of the occupying regime,” Brigadier General Ali Fadavi said on Sunday.
On April 1, Israeli warplanes bombed the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in the Mezzeh neighborhood in the Syrian capital.
A senior commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi were among the seven Iranian martyrs of the terrorist attack.
Fadavi said Israel is not committed to any international regulations and is the main loser of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
He added that Israel has committed heinous crimes in Gaza since it started its devastating war on the strip six months ago, including the massacre of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian children and women.
The Foreign Ministry has underscored the Islamic Republic’s legitimate right to a decisive response based on international law.
Israel waged a US-backed genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip on October 7 following a historic operation by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group against the occupying regime.
Since then, the regime has killed at least 33,175 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured some 75,800 others. The regime has also imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
‘Enemies will regret act of aggression against Iran’
The IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif on Sunday warned that Iran will give such a response to any act of aggression that the enemies would regret their act.
Speaking to reporters, Sharif said that Israel is now facing a tough situation six months into the war in Gaza, reiterating Iran’s unwavering support for the people of Palestine.
Israel suffered an irreparable defeat in its war against Gaza and takes every measure now as it sees its looming decline, he emphasized.
Pointing to Israel’s defeat in various economic, legal, political and media fields, the IRGC commander said the regime is dreading the Resistance Front’s retaliation.
