Israeli assassinations won’t weaken resistance: Hamas, Islamic Jihad
The Gaza-based Palestinian resistance groups of Hamas and Islamic Jihad have emphasized that assassinations by Israel will not weaken their resilience against the occupying regime.
In a statement released on Thursday, they vowed to follow the path of resistance and defend Palestinians despite Israel’s assassination of Hamas’s Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran and Fuad Shukr, a senior commander of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, in Beirut.
“The treacherous assassination crimes of resistance leaders, foremost among them … Ismail Haniyeh… and … Fuad Shukr will not weaken the resistance,” they said.
“The resistance pledges to Allah first, and then to our people and our nation, to fulfill its duty to defend our people, our land, protect our sanctities, and safeguard our legitimate rights, no matter the sacrifices.”
Abdul Salam Haniyeh said his father had “strived for the unity of all Palestinian factions.”
Hamas and Islamic Jihad also described the resistance as a “legitimate right” in the face of the Israeli occupation, saying it will persist until Palestinians uphold their right to liberation, return to their homeland, and establish an independent state on the entire Palestinian land with al-Quds as its capital.
They further called on the Palestinian people in the Israeli-occupied territories to escalate their resistance, thwart the Israeli plots, and make the usurping regime and its allies pay the price for their crimes.
“The occupation has not and will not achieve any of its goals in the genocide war, except for killing children, women, and the elderly, and destroying infrastructure and civilian institutions. This will not weaken our resolve, and the resistance that created Al-Aqsa Storm,” they added, referring to the surprise operation conducted by resistance fighters on October 7, 2023.
Israel unleashed its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip after the Palestinian operation which came in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
However, 10 months into the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has failed to achieve its objectives in the besieged Gaza despite killing at least 39,480 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 91,128 others.
Also in their statement, the two resistance movements stressed that they will keep cooperating at the political, military, field, and humanitarian levels.
