Israeli attacks on Syrian airports constitute a threat to regional and international security_ Foreign Ministry
Damascus-SANA, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian civilian airports constitute a threat to peace and security in the region and the world, calling on the UN bodies to assume their responsibilities in condemning and stopping these attacks and ensuring that they are not repeated.
“At about 16:50 on Sunday, the Israeli occupation forces launched an air attack with missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting Damascus International Airport and some areas in Damascus countryside, putting the airport out of service once again, only hours after it was rerun, as well as disrupting the humanitarian work of the UN by stopping its humanitarian air services in Syria.” the Ministry explained in a statement.
The ministry added: “These Israeli aggressions during the last two months are linked to the brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip, which can only be considered a war crime and a crime against humanity.
Moreover, these repeated attacks on Syrian civilian airports constitute a threat to peace and security in the region and the world. “the statement added.
The Ministry stressed that “this act of hostility comes also within the framework of the occupation authorities’ efforts to cover up their crimes, defeats, and failure to achieve the goals they announced for their brutal aggression against Gaza, despite committing the most horrific war crimes, and acts of genocide.”
The Foreign Ministry called on the UN, UNSC, and other competent bodies to shoulder their responsibilities in condemning and stopping these attacks and ensuring that they are not repeated, stressing the need to put the relevant UN resolutions into practice in a way that ensures an end to the occupation and a halt to Israel’s crimes against the people of the occupied Arab territories in Palestine, the Syrian Golan, and southern Lebanon.
“Syria warns the Israeli entity of the consequences of these attacks on these Arab territories, and the Israel will pay heavy price for its foolishness and recklessness.” the ministry concluded.
