Israeli forces kill at least one Palestinian youth, injure four, during clashes in occupied West Bank
Israeli military forces have killed a Palestinian youth and injured four others during clashes near the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.
The victim– identified as 21-year-old Fadi Badran– was shot in the chest during confrontations between Palestinian people and Israeli troops near the Ofer jail in the West Bank town of Beitunia on Thursday, medical sources said.
According to local sources, the clashes erupted after the occupying regime’s forces started dispersing the citizens who were waiting for the release of Palestinian prisoners from jail as part of the humanitarian truce deal in the Gaza Strip.
The clashes escalated after Israeli troops stormed nearby neighborhoods in Beitunia town, the sources added.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime’s decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.
The temporary ceasefire in Gaza took effect on Friday, giving Palestinians in the besieged territory a brief respite from Israel’s 7-week brutal war.
The truce deal included a prisoner swap agreement between Hamas and Israel, which mandated the release of 50 Israeli captives in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners, all of them women and children.
Israeli forces raid refugee camp in West Bank
In a separate development on Thursday, Israeli forces carried out a large-scale incursion into the West Bank city of Tulkarem and its refugee camp, causing heavy destruction.
Palestine’s official Wafa news agency reported that Israeli troops, accompanied by bulldozers, entered the city from the west direction on Thursday, storming several neighborhoods.
The regime forces also raided the Tulkarem refugee camp, deploying snipers to the rooftops of high buildings, as bulldozers destroyed the camp’s main streets, several vehicles, and properties of residents.
Violent clashes reportedly broke out between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youths, with the regime forces firing live bullets toward them. There were no reports of injuries.
Israeli military forces also stationed troops in the vicinity of Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarem, searching ambulances and interrogating their drivers.
The regime forces also detained a Palestinian youth, identified as Abdel-Fatah al-Qadoomi, after they stormed several residents’ homes in the southern part of the city. According to local sources, drones were also flying low over Tulkarem.
