Large Rebel Arms Depot Captured by the Syrian Army in Homs
One day after beginning their new offensives in Homs, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – captured a large arms depot belonging to the militants of the Al-Nusra Front (Jabhat Al-Nusra) inside the village of Kafr ‘Aayyaa located west of the provincial capital.
According to a military source, the SAA, NDF, and SSNP stormed the Al-Nusra Front arms depot on Saturday morning and overwhelmed the entrenched militants protecting their large cache of supplies inside. At least 15 Al-Nusra Front militants were killed as a result of the firefights that took place with the loyalist forces and another 6 enemy combatants were captured before the seizure of the arms depot inside this village in western Homs.
Inside the Al-Nusra Front arms depot was a large cache of Israeli-made assault rifles, grenades, RPG launchers, night vision binoculars, ammunition, medical supplies, and 23 mm anti-aircraft machine guns. The weapons were hidden underground in order to prevent seizure; however, a captured militant revealed the whereabouts of the contents during an interrogation by the SAA.
