Latest battlefield map of Palmyra offensive
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has liberated several sites in the Palmyra countryside these past 48 hours, securing the ancient city after launching their offensive in early February.
On Tuesday, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion continued their push northeast of the city, striking the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions at the Mustadirah Mountains.
Following a long battle on Tuesday, the Syrian Arab Army secured the aforementioned mountaintop in northeast Palmyra, resulting in the Islamic State’s subsequent retreat later in the day.
With the Mustadirah Mountains under their control, the Syrian Arab Army will now turn their attention to the Mazar Mountains, which are located directly north of Palmyra City.
