Leader’s message to Putin provides opportunity to deal with common threats
Iranian Parliamentary Director General for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that Leader’s message to Putin, delivered by Mr. Velayati, is about taking the opportunity to contain common threats.
“The message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to Russian President Putin is about the opportunity available for both Iran and Russia to get organized against common threats and sanctions,” said Iranian Parliamentary Director General for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on Wednesday.
The Iranian diplomat made the remarks in an interview with Iranian state TV IRIB touching upon the visit of Mr. Ali Akbar Velayti to Moscow.
“Considering the experience of six years of continuous negotiations with Russians, I believe that while the USSR has not left a good memory in the minds of Iranians historically, the experience of joint war on terrorism in Syria has been a successful experience in the course of Iran-Russia relations,” said the former deputy foreign minister.
He also enlisted the experience of evading US-posed sanctions as another case of successful coordination between Iran and Russia.
“According to these reasons and based on experience, direct talks with Russian officials at the highest levels and exchange of ideas can make the approaches of the two countries closer, help finding suitable solutions for bolstering stability and regional security, and contribute to resistance campaign against wrong policies of US and its allies,” he ascertained.
“The message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution which is supposed to be delivered at 12:30 p.m. local time in Moscow by Mr. Velayti, at the current stage of events, can be a call for jointly taking advantage of the opportunity to deal with shared threats and sanctions,” speculated the Iranian diplomat.
