Mikdad: Erdogan’s government waged aggression against Syria on behalf of terrorism
Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad said that the escalation started by the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the borders with Syria under flimsy pretexts seeks to support terrorist groups.
In an article published by the Lebanese newspaper al-Bina’a, Mikdad said that Syria is fighting a war against various forms of terrorism which are all well known to their host Erdogan, who is fully aware of their scale, the kind of weapons they use, and the crimes they commit.
He said that Erdogan’s government supports terrorist groups who openly claimed responsibility for attacks targeting safe villages and towns in northern Syrian, namely the groups known as the Islamic Front of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and Jabhet al-Nusra, both of which are listed as terrorist organizations by the Security Council.
Mikdad said that the fact that Erdogan’s government, considered, planned, approved and carried out an aggression against Syria is irrefutable, and that this aggression was carried out on behalf of terrorism and has nothing to do with Turkish national interest.
He noted that this aggression comes at a time when public resentment is growing over Erdogan’s government and its involvement in the war on Syria and its turning of Turkish border towns and cities in harbors for terrorists coming from all over the world who openly declare hostile intents against the secular system in Turkey and against the safety of Turkey, its army and citizens.
Mikdad said that there is no need to prove that the whole behavior of the Turkish government is contrary to the true interests of Syria and Turkey and their peoples.
He said that Erdogan’s government waged its aggression after the Syrian Arab Army made significant achievement and cut off supply routes for terrorists on the borders with Lebanon, where the Syrian Army cleansed al-Qalamoun area of terrorists.
Mikdad said that it’s unimportant whether this government’s aggression is done on behalf of another decision maker in exchange for financial or political gain or if it did it on its own behalf; rather what actually matters is that that Erdogan’s government is playing with fire by supporting for terrorism in Syria, and it should know that.
He concluded the article by asserting that Syria doesn’t use the language of threats and bullying used by Erdogan; rather it is content to say that the behavior of Erdogan and his government is insane and stupid, and will achieve results similar to those achieved by all insane and stupid people.
