Minister for Refugees in Afghanistan has been killed in a suicide bombing
The interim Minister for Refugees of the Afghan Taliban government was tragically killed in a suicide bombing at the ministry's headquarters in Kabul, according to government officials.
Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has condemned what he described as a “cowardly attack” orchestrated by the ISIL terrorist organization.
According to a government source who spoke to AFP on the condition of anonymity, an explosion at the Ministry for Refugees resulted in the death of Minister Khalil Ur-Rahman Haqqani and several of his colleagues. This incident marks the first attack aimed at a minister since the Taliban assumed power in 2021.
He stated that the detonation resulted from a suicide bombing.
Taliban authorities implemented roadblocks on routes approaching the ministry, while security forces were strategically positioned on nearby rooftops to oversee the area.
