ISIL is on the verge of being fully expelled from Mosul after more than three years of occupying this capital of the Nineveh Governorate.

According to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, the Islamic State only holds the Old Mosul District inside the city after more than three months of nonstop military operations.

With ISIL on their last legs in Mosul, the Iraqi High Command will likely shift their attention to the terrorist group’s last stronghold (Tal ‘Afar) in the Nineveh Governorate.

Once the Tal ‘Afar area is liberated, the Islamic State will have effectively been expelled from the province.
