Mother of hostage issues stern warning to Netanyahu, pledging to become his ‘worst nightmare’

Einav Zangauker, the mother of Matan Zangauker, who is currently being held captive, has accused the Israeli Prime Minister of intending to repatriate only a select few captives while risking the lives of others through the application of military force.

Around 2,000 settlers convened outside the Israeli Defense Forces’ headquarters on Tel Aviv’s Begin Road to protest against the government’s stance and urge for a negotiation to secure the release of captives held by the Palestinian Resistance in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum conducted its regular weekly protest just a block from the gathering.

At the entrance of an Israeli military base, Einav Zangauker, the mother of captive Matan Zangauker, leveled serious accusations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming he is deliberately hindering negotiations. She issued a stark warning, asserting that she will become his “worst nightmare” should he not ensure her son’s safe release.

During a recent conversation, she expressed that, based on discussions with officials involved in the negotiations, there appears to be no intention to bring back Matan, suggesting she had been deceived. Furthermore, she indicated there seems to be no genuine plan to conclude the conflict as part of a comprehensive agreement.

Zangauker has leveled accusations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alleging that his strategy involves repatriating a select few while exerting military force against the remainder.

In a strong statement, she declared, “This is not a threat, but a warning: there will be neither forgiveness nor mercy.” She further added, “If my Matan returns in a body bag, I will personally pursue you relentlessly, becoming your worst nightmare.”

She stated, “Police Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich have undermined your position, but I am well-versed in dealing with situations like yours.”

In a related development, hundreds of settlers convened at Hostages Square following indications that the Israeli government is nearing an agreement to secure the release of “humanitarian” prisoners, focusing mainly on the elderly, the ill, and women.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum has issued a firm demand, stating that any forthcoming agreement must guarantee the simultaneous return of all captives.

Sharon Alony Cunio, who was previously held captive and whose husband David Cunio is still in Gaza, emphasized the Israeli government’s responsibility to avoid pursuing any partial agreements. She insisted that such arrangements could result in dire consequences for those still detained.

Itzik Horn, the father of captives Yair and Eitan, has voiced strong criticism against ministers who describe a potential agreement to secure their release as a “surrender deal.” He firmly asserted that any outcome failing to bring them home immediately constitutes a surrender.

At a recent rally, an organized group established a platform aimed at recruiting volunteers for prospective non-violent civil disobedience actions. A speaker at the event outlined that participants would need to be ready to initiate traffic disruptions swiftly, potentially lasting several days.

He forecasted that this course of action would probably transpire should the government proceed with the dismissal of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara or Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar.

On Saturday, Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for the al-Qassam Brigades, alleged that the Israeli Defense Forces intentionally and repeatedly struck a site where Israeli captives were reportedly being detained.

In a recent Telegram post, the spokesperson claimed that the occupation forces have repeatedly bombed a site holding enemy captives, with the intention of ensuring their deaths. The Resistance group asserts that their intelligence indicates the enemy’s deliberate targeting of the location to eliminate both the captives and their guards.

A spokesperson reported that the al-Qassam Brigades initiated a search and rescue mission aimed at locating survivors. Despite their efforts, only one captive was successfully recovered, though their current status remains unclear.

Shortly following a post by Abu Obeida, the al-Qassam Brigades disseminated a video titled “Netanyahu and Halevi are attempting to dispose of their captives in Gaza through any measures possible.”

Footage has emerged depicting a detainee, visibly bloodied, attempting to maneuver through debris likely resulting from the recent bombing referenced by Abu Obeida in his statement.

In a recent development, the al-Qassam Brigades have reported the death of an Israeli captive who was being held in the northern region of Gaza late last month.

Abu Obeida has announced the death of a captive as a result of an Israeli airstrike, and has subsequently issued a severe warning to Israeli authorities concerning the potential consequences for other captives under the ongoing military operations.

Abu Obeida announced that adversaries should brace themselves for the challenge posed by the absence of the deceased prisoners’ bodies. He cited the significant devastation resulting from Israeli military actions and the deaths of Palestinian captors as contributing factors to this occurrence.

He disclosed that contact has been reestablished with al-Qassam fighters responsible for safeguarding the hostages. It has emerged that one female hostage was killed in a region experiencing intense Israeli military strikes, while another hostage currently faces immediate peril.

In a statement issued following the reestablishment of communication with the fighters responsible for guarding prisoners, Abu Obeida revealed that a female prisoner was killed during recent hostilities in a region of the northern Gaza Strip experiencing Zionist military action. Another female prisoner remains at risk amid the ongoing conflict.
