On the 14th anniversary of the historic Dey 9 events, IRGC reaffirms its commitment to safeguard Iran’s security

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has affirmed its comprehensive preparedness to protect Iran's security and address adversarial efforts aimed at inciting unrest and sedition within the nation.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the widespread pro-establishment demonstrations held in 2009. This event, known for its significant turnout, occurred on the ninth day of the Persian month of Dey, corresponding to December 30.

The Dey 9 events were hailed as a “momentous and decisive occasion” that left the “malicious network of American and Zionist agitators” stunned.

On December 30, 2009, millions of Iranians convened in Tehran and other cities across the nation to conclude months of unrest following the presidential election and reaffirm their support for the Islamic regime.

The unrest, reportedly supported by foreign entities, was allegedly orchestrated by presidential candidates Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hossein Musavi, who claimed electoral fraud following their defeat in the election.

In an official statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) characterized the events of Dey 9 as providing a “strong, unequivocal, and conclusive” answer to the unrest that followed the presidential election of June 2009.

The unrest consolidated various anti-Iran factions and adversaries in an orchestrated plot, purportedly backed by the United States, Israeli interests, and their European and regional partners. This movement, the report indicated, was underpinned by unfounded accusations of electoral fraud.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has affirmed that both its elite military unit and Basij volunteers are prepared to safeguard Iran’s national security and stability. The statement underlined their readiness to counteract any attempts by adversaries to incite disorder, insecurity, and unrest within the nation.

The statement highlighted the Iranian nation’s enduring memory of historic epics, particularly at pivotal moments such as the present. It expressed confidence in overcoming challenges posed by adversaries, including threats, sanctions, and economic warfare originating from hostile think tanks.
