Over 7,000 people evacuated from besieged towns in Idlib

Over 7,000 civilians were evacuated from the besieged Shiites towns of Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya last night, a military source told Al-Masdar News.

According to the source, the 7,000 civilians were transported via 100 government-provided buses to the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) lines in southern Aleppo overnight.

The source continued that the first transport vehicles to arrive to southern Aleppo were six ambulances that were carrying critically ill civilians from both Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya.

Following the arrival of these ambulances, another wave of buses arrived at the Al-‘Eis crossing in southern Aleppo, where they were greeted by Syrian Army soldiers and medics.

Both Kafraya and Al-Fou’aa are now empty of their residents, leaving behind the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF) and Syrian Hezbollah units still inside the towns.

The two towns were recently emptied after an agreement was put in place between the government and rebels in rural Idlib this week.
