In a significant development, Israeli forces have withdrawn from the eastern region of Nablus in the northern West Bank, following intense clashes with Palestinian fighters.
The al-Quds Brigades and al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, militant groups operating out of Nablus, have asserted responsibility for the recent confrontations that occurred during an Israeli military operation attempting to enter the city. The Palestinian factions reportedly engaged in intense exchanges of gunfire and utilized explosive devices in their efforts to repel the Israeli incursion.
Local reports indicate that more than 20 Israeli military vehicles, along with bulldozers, advanced into Nablus on Sunday evening through the Awarta and Beit Furik checkpoints. The incursion appeared to be an operation to facilitate access for Israeli settlers to the nearby Joseph’s Tomb. Nevertheless, fierce resistance from Palestinian factions resulted in the Israeli forces withdrawing after several hours of intense clashes.
In addition, Israeli forces conducted operations in various locations across the West Bank, which included the town of Halhul, situated north of Hebron, and the village of Burqa, located east of Ramallah.
In the latest escalation of violence in the region, four young Palestinian men were fatally shot by Israeli forces during a raid on the village of Sir, located southeast of Jenin. According to local reports, the deceased have been identified as Montaser Jalal Aziz Naim, Ismail Mohammed Ismail Abu Rob, Wael Hassan Lahloh, and Abdel Salam Nabih Abu Rob. The incident, occurring just a day prior, has further stirred tensions in the area.
