Park in Damascus University named after Chavez on his first death anniversary
Rector of Damascus University, Dr. Mohammad Amer al-Mardini discussed Monday with the Venezuelan ambassador in Damascus Imad Saab the preparations for organizing a festival honoring the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on his first death anniversary on March 5.
Al-Mardini said during the meeting that the honoring ceremony will feature the inauguration of a park on the University campus named after the late President in appreciation for his history of struggle and efforts to develop ties between Syria and Venezuela in all fields.
Saab, for his part, told journalists that the embassy will organize a photo exhibition at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts to document Chavez’ visits to Syria, pointing out that Chavez wanted, through his visits to friendly countries around the world, to unify the efforts of the anti-imperialist countries.
