Petroleum Minister: Work underway to repair Arab gas pipeline
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral resources Suleiman al-Abbas discussed Thursday means of boosting cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry and Faculty of Petroleum and chemical Engineering at al-Baath University.
Al-Abbas met administrations of the General companies of Phosphate and Mines and Homs Refinery, reviewing with them the situation of work and production in all oil institutions, affirming that the situation is good in view of the volume of sabotage and damage to which the oil sector has been exposed due to the acts of armed terrorist groups.
The Minister said maintenance works are underway to repair the Arab gas pipeline which was targeted by armed terrorist groups on April 27th, in order to restore it to investment and ease the suffering of families in the southern region due to electricity break off.
He clarified that the gas production nowadays is 15 million cubic meter per day while it was 28 million cubic meters before the crisis. Later, the Minister toured a number of sites that were targeted by terrorists.
