Pezeshkian: ‘israel’, supported by the US, has thoroughly disregarded human rights and international laws through its actions
President Masoud Pezeshkian has firmly condemned the Israeli government for perpetrating inhumane acts against regional populations, while also criticizing the United States for its unwavering support of these alleged atrocities.
The chief executive delivered his comments during a meeting with Lebanon’s interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati in New York on Wednesday, coinciding with the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
“Pezeshkian has accused the Zionist regime of systematically violating human rights and international laws, attributing these actions to inhumane crimes allegedly supported by the United States,” he stated.
The president delivered a forceful denunciation of U.S. political, financial, and military backing of the regime, attributing the ongoing atrocities to this support. He emphasized that, “Absent U.S. assistance, the regime would neither have the capability nor the audacity to carry out such criminal actions.”
The statements focused primarily on the regime’s continuing genocidal conflict in the Gaza Strip, as well as the intensified lethal assaults on Lebanon.
The conflict, which commenced on October 7, has resulted in the deaths of at least 41,495 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, according to recent reports.
The intensification of conflict in Lebanon, sparked by the initiation of a severe military offensive, has seen the regime conducting numerous lethal strikes on Lebanese soil.
In a significant escalation, the regime launched extensive airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, resulting in the deaths of at least 569 individuals, including 50 children and 94 women, and leaving 5,000 others injured.
The assaults occurred within a week of the regime’s deadly strike on a residential building in a southern Beirut suburb, which resulted in the deaths of 38 individuals, including three children and seven women.
Just days ago, a series of booby-trapped pagers and walkie-talkie radios were detonated nationwide, resulting in the deaths of at least 39 individuals and injuring approximately 3,000 others.
Pezeshkian urged Muslim nations to fulfill their responsibility to support the beleaguered populations of Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of efforts to halt the regime’s ongoing abuses in the region.
He urged Muslim nations maintaining economic ties with the regime to sever these relations, thereby undercutting its ability to engage in criminal actions and acts of aggression.
In a statement, the president reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to offering comprehensive support to Lebanon.
The Islamic Republic has already sent relief and medical aid to the country, and its hospitals are ready to offer medical treatment to the Lebanese citizens injured in the recent acts of aggression by the regime, he stated.
Prime Minister Mikati echoed Pezeshkian’s condemnation of Israeli actions, stating that the ongoing events in Gaza and Lebanon represent a significant breach of humanitarian principles and international norms.
“The use of civilian equipment to target innocent and ordinary people constitutes a crime that only the Zionist regime is capable of,” he stated, pointing to the regime’s detonation of communication devices throughout Lebanon.
Prime Minister Mikati has commended the Islamic Republic for its longstanding support of his nation over several decades. He has called on other Muslim countries to intensify their efforts to prevent the spread of conflict throughout the region.
