PHOTOS: Huge convoy of Syrian Army reinforcements arrive in east Hama for upcoming offensive
A massive convoy consisting of soldiers from the Qalamoun Shield arrived in the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate, the unit’s official media wing announced on Saturday.
Dozens of vehicles were seen making their way along the main highway linking Hama and Salamiyah, as they traveled to the front-lines where they hope to assist in the upcoming offensive against the Islamic State (ISIL).
With several elite forces already mobilized in east Hama, the Syrian Arab Army has set their eyes on the ISIL stronghold of ‘Uqayrbat, which is strategically located along an important path to the Jubb Al-Jarrah District and Al-Sukhnah city.
Once ‘Uqayrbat is liberated, the Syrian Arab Army will be able to close the Islamic State’s pocket in central Syria and strengthen their supply lines around this rural area in eastern Hama.
