The Israeli military says it has carried out over 140 strikes against the Gaza Strip in a matter of hours.

The attacks came after a reported 150 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel.

The Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas said the rocket attacks were in retaliation for the killing of two of its fighters in Israeli tank fire in Gaza on Tuesday.
