President Pezeshkian mandated the enlargement of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant

President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially announced the initiation of construction activities at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, located in southern Iran.

During a provincial visit to Bushehr on Thursday, President Pezeshkian conducted an inspection of the initial phase of the power plant project. His tour included a review of the control room and turbine facilities, during which he was briefed on the plant’s operational activities and its electricity production capabilities.

Pezeshkian has officially commissioned the installation of the primary equipment for the reactor building of the second unit and initiated the construction of Units 2 and 3 at the power plant.

The initial phase of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant has produced 72 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity over the past 11 years, resulting in savings of over $8 billion in fossil fuel resources.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has set an ambitious target to substantially increase its nuclear power production capabilities, with plans to achieve an output of 20,000 megawatts by the year 2041.
