Qalamoun: ISIS and Al-Nusra fall victim to an ambush in Faleeta
On Wednesday evening, a contingent mixed with Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) and Al-Nusra Front (Al-Qaeda offshoot) militants attempted to sneak into the village of Faleeta under the cover of night; however, as they approached their destination, they were assaulted by a barrage of bullets from a nearby hill.
Unbeknownst to the enemy combatants, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was positioned on the hill adjacent to the road they were traveling on.
According to a military source, SAA scouts spotted the militant contingent heading towards Faleeta from the Lebanese border – upon receiving this information, they positioned themselves for the ambush.
The SAA gunmen would overwhelm the enemy combatants approaching Faleeta with a multitude of bullets that killed all 14 members of these militant groups, including a notorious ISIS field commander identified as “Abu ‘Abbas” (identification pending).
Identified amongst the dead militants were the following:
Mohammad Ahmad Natour
1st. Lt. Mohammad Khaled Bakr
‘Ali Qassim Al-Firaas
Malek Shukri Al-Hamdaan
Khaled ‘Abdel-Razzaaq Al-Jaroudiyyeh
