Qalibaf: Iran will persist in backing resistance as a religious obligation

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf announced that maintaining the Islamic Republic's support for the resistance front will remain a pivotal strategy to strengthen national security and enhance the nation's power.

Speaking at an open parliamentary session on Thursday, Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf declared that Iran unequivocally affirms its commitment to supporting the resistance, citing it as both a “religious and national” obligation.

He stated that Muslim countries and individuals worldwide have increasingly recognized the “criminal and dangerous” nature of the Israeli regime. He further expressed confidence that the growing ideology of resistance will quickly spread throughout the region.

A senior Iranian lawmaker has underscored that the collapse of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government would inevitably lead to instability in the resistance movement’s efforts.

Reports indicate that factions aligned with the resistance, including Hezbollah in Lebanon, are poised to swiftly adapt to the evolving circumstances and are expected to engage with increased dynamism and vigor.

According to statements by Qalibaf, the resistance movement demonstrated increased resilience following the assassination of senior Hezbollah leaders, compelling the Israeli government to acknowledge its defeat and agree to a ceasefire.

In his inaugural comments following the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, dismissed any speculation about the weakening of the resistance front on Wednesday. He affirmed that the resistance axis is poised to grow stronger.

“The leader declared that the essence of the resistance movement is its capacity to grow stronger under pressure. ‘The harder you push, the more it resilient it becomes; the more atrocities you commit, the more determined it grows,’ he stated. ‘This only fuels its expansion. I assure you, by divine power, the resistance will extend beyond its current boundaries to encompass the entire region,’ he added.”

In another segment of his address, Qalibaf highlighted the “inevitable” developments that unfolded in Syria last week, as militants and Takfiri terrorists seized control of the Syrian capital. He stated that Iran had previously cautioned the Syrian government about the conspiracies being orchestrated by interfering parties.

He asserted that the Syrian population might have avoided internal turmoil and the resolution of sectarian disputes if Iran’s cautions had been acknowledged, and if efforts had been made to engage in dialogue with the populace and pursue national unity.

The Speaker of Parliament indicated that Iran would adjust its diplomatic relations with Syria in response to the conduct of the armed opposition within the country.

Qalibaf highlighted the region’s ongoing transition towards a new order, stating that while passivity could lead to significant challenges, vigilance presents an opportunity to capitalize on these emerging challenges.

He observed that Iran has developed the capability to transform existing threats into significant opportunities.
