Quds Day, day of Muslims awakening, uprising against Israel
Iran’s Ambassador to Cuba says the Quds Day is a day of awakening and uprising by Muslims and freedom seeking nations around the world against the global arrogance particularly the Zionist regime.
In an interview with Radio Havana Thursday, Kambiz Sheikh Hassani elaborated in the initiative of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini to name the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan as ‘Quds Day’, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported from Madrid.
He said the Quds Day provides Muslims throughout the world an opportunity to express their support for the Palestinian people and display their hatred of the child killing regime of Israel.
Referring to the Cuban government’s stance in support of the Palestinian cause, the Iranian ambassador quoted the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro as describing the crimes of the Zionist regime as ‘real Holocaust’.
The martyrdom of over 100 Palestinian people and wounding of thousands of others over the past two months is a small sign of the crimes the Zionist regime has perpetrated against the Palestinian people since its occupation of their homeland, Sheikh Hassani said.
Unfortunately, the majority of Western countries led by the United States which claim to be advocates of human rights are supporting the Zionist regime in various forms including vetoing the resolutions passed by the UN Security Council against Israeli crimes.
Sheikh Hassani also expressed regret that certain Muslim countries of the region, instead of consolidating the pro-Palestine front, have embarked on cooperating with the Zionist regime overtly or covertly.
He also slammed the US administration for relocating the country’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Beit-ul Moqaddas in defiance of international laws and all resolutions of the UN Security Council.
