Rebel Group Surrenders and Defects to National Defense Forces at Beit Sahm
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) rebel contingent “Liwaa Sham Al-Rasoul” has defected from the latter after the withdrawal of the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” from the Rif Dimashq Governorate town of Beit Sahm.
Before they were able to officially defect from the FSA, Liwaa Sham Al-Rasoul fighters in Beit Sahm surrendered to the Syrian Government-backed “National Defense Forces” (NDF) inside the town, following their encirclement.
Immediately after their surrender at Beit Sahm, the rebel group announced their defection from the FSA, taking pictures with members from the NDF around the town, while carrying flags from the Syrian Arab Republic.
Liwaa Sham Al-Rasoul is the third rebel group to defect from the FSA in 8 days – the previous two rebel groups defected in the Yarmouk Camp and Al-Tadamon Districts.
