Sayyed Nasrallah: What is happening in Syria threatens entire region
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said that some sides’ problem with Lebanese resistance is its political position on the Syrian issue, when Hezbollah said it is against this conflict and the overthrow of government since the first day, and the problem is not due to Hezbollah’s military intervention which came after everyone interfered in the crisis in Syria.
In a televised speech at the launch of the Jabal Amel Culture and Literature forum in Ainatha Friday, Sayyed Nasrallah said the party’s rejection of the plot against Syria made the war on Syria target the party, adding the resistance did not bow down to the plot because it considers what is happening to be strategic and serious challenges for Syria, the resistance, Lebanon, Palestine and the region.
Sayyed Nasrallah said the position of the party was political at first, before terrorists moved into areas few hundred meters way from the Holy shrine of Sayyeda Zainab, which is when the resistance interfered to prevent them from demolishing the shrine.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Nasrallah added the Turkish government speaks of a shrine of the forbearer of the Ottomans, whose name is not known to most of Muslims, and it considers it a Turkish right to interfere militarily in Syria to protect this shrine.
Sayyed Nasrallah stressed the resistance did not violate Syrian sovereignty as it entered with the approval of the Syrian government, adding “after al-Quseir, we reached a stage where it was clear that the battle in Syria has reached this stage as a result of the size of the regional and international interference, at which point the crisis became related to the resistance, its existence and identity.
“Since the beginning we talked about a political solution while the Arab regimes wanted to overthrow the government,” Nasrallah said, adding that “after three years the decisions of the Arab summit all talked about the same solution. It took them three years to say what should have been said since the first day.”
Hezbollah Secretary General highlighted that the Syrian leadership has welcomed dialogue and expressed readiness to carry out reforms since the beginning of the crisis, but no-one was willing to discuss the political solution as they thought that the issue will be over and everything will change in Syria and the region within two months.
He called upon the sides which are interfering in Syria, be they Arab countries or Lebanese parties, to comprehend that what is happening in Syria will expose all the region to the dangers of terrorism.
Nasrallah said some Lebanese sides have not realized yet that what is happening in Syria is a threat to their own country, adding there is a fear that Takfiri mentality could seize control, adding that this mentality does not accept anyone, citing the fierce battles between the “Islamic State in Iraq and Sham” and “Jabhet al-Nusra” terrorist organizations, where thousands of people were killed because of an administrative and organizational difference between them, asking how could these sides live with the rest of the Lebanese, Syrians, and peoples of the region.
He addressed the sides which had said that the problem is the party’s intervention in Syria, saying that the problem is that the party was late in intervening.
