Senior Iranian diplomat says cooperation with Brazil will promote multilateralism, lasting stability, security
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani says Iran-Brazil cooperation in the international arena will play a pivotal role in promotion of multilateral mechanisms and sustainable stability and security.
Bagheri Kani said at the 12th session of the political consultations between Iran and Brazil that Tehran-Brasilia cooperation would help ensure the interests of independent countries.
Bagheri Kani and Secretary for Africa and the Middle East at Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte chaired the 12th session of the political consultations between the two countries in Brasilia on Thursday.
Emphasizing that unilateralism and extremism are on the decline in the world, the Iranian diplomat said that stability will be promoted on the basis of multilateralism if each country does its share in the political, economic and international mechanisms based on their capacities.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Bagheri Kani said the two countries are determined to hold a session of the joint economic commission within the next few months.
Iran-Brazil’s “complementary economic capacities herald sustainable and stable economic cooperation” between the two countries, he added.
The senior Iranian and Brazilian diplomats also discussed ways to facilitate and diversify trade and economic ties, and develop cultural, scientific, environmental, tourism and parliamentary cooperation.
They supported the settlement of the ongoing issues in the world through multilateralism and peaceful approaches and voiced opposition to unilateral sanctions.
