Spokesperson: Pezeshkian administration unveiled an ‘active plan’ designed to counteract the U.S. policy of maximum pressure

The administration under President Masoud Pezeshkian has formulated a proactive strategy to address the United States’ “maximum pressure” initiative, according to spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani.

In remarks to journalists after a weekly cabinet session led by President Pezeshkian in Tehran on Wednesday, Mohajerani provided her comments.

She asserted that Iran had foreseen Washington’s adoption of such a policy against the Islamic Republic, while stressing that the U.S. campaign would ultimately prove futile.

The administration has unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at revitalizing the economy, asserting that with public backing, the nation will successfully navigate the current challenging circumstances, according to the spokesperson.

“The private and industrial sectors are in a significantly improved position compared to previous decades, with knowledge-based companies demonstrating high levels of activity,” she stated. She further emphasized that the Pezeshkian administration is prioritizing the enhancement of private sector capabilities, utilizing domestic capacities, and strengthening relations with neighboring nations as strategic measures to counteract the impacts of the maximum pressure policy.”

Iranians are in favor of pursuing negotiations, yet they remain resolute in not yielding to any form of intimidation, emphasized Mohajerani.

Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump, who was inaugurated on January 20 for a non-consecutive second term, declared his intention to reinstate the “maximum pressure” strategy previously implemented against Iran. This move comes after his initial withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear agreement in 2018, during his first term.
