Supreme Leader’s aide: Any scheme to establish a regional empire destined for failure

Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi, a key adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has criticized the efforts of certain nations to establish a sphere of dominance in the region.

On Thursday, Rahim-Safavi delivered a speech in Tabriz, the capital city of East Azerbaijan province in Northwestern Iran.

A high-ranking Iranian military official has stated that any malicious attempt to establish an empire in the region is bound to be unsuccessful.

According to his statement, certain regional rivals of Iran are seeking to repeat historical patterns, although he noted that such assumptions are now proving unproductive.
