Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Kills over 1,000 Foreigner Terrorists in Meliha
The Syrian army has killed hundreds of foreign-backed militants since the beginning of their operations in a strategic town in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside, military sources announced on Monday.
Over 1,000 terrorists have been killed in Meliha town in Eastern Ghouta since the army began its clean-up operations in Meliha, an informed Syrian military sources told FNA.
The source noted that the Syrian army is on the verge of taking full control over Tamiko military checkpoint that is only 200 meters from Syria’s biggest pharmaceutical factory in the entrance of Jeramana.
Also in the past 24 hours, a new video clip released on the Internet showed a prison of the Free Syrian Army where FSA used to torture the Al-Qaeda-linked militants that it had taken hostage.
Meantime, a military source said that units of the Syrian army repelled a militant group’s attack on Taloul al-Hawa village in the Eastern part of Homs countryside and killed all its members.
Elsewhere, residents of al-Qalamoun region in Syria’s Damascus countryside started returning to the mountainous region, which has been cleared of foreign-backed militants by the army.
Residents of Ras al-Ma’ara, al-Jibeh, Assal al-Ward and other towns in the region took to the streets on Saturday, celebrating and shouting slogans in support of the Syrian army, Al-Alam reported.
The rallies came as government forces have now started to reconstruct the damaged infrastructure in the region, which borders neighboring Lebanon, and restore electricity.
Also, the Syrian army units continued its successful military operations against militants across the crisis-hit country.
A military source said that a unit of the army foiled a militant group’s attempt to infiltrate into al-Lairamon and al-Zahraa areas in Aleppo and killed several militants and detonated a tunnel used by militants surrounding the Castle towards al-Swieka area.
In the same context, army units destroyed militants’ weapons caches in Khan al-Assal, causing huge explosions and killing scores of militants.
Meantime, units of the army inflicted heavy losses on the armed groups in al-Ghanto, al-Mashjar al-Janoubi, Beit Rabia, Talbiseh, Beit Hajjo, al-Sain, Um Sharshouh, al-Dar al-Kabira and Ein Hussein in Homs countryside and destroyed their weapons.
A military source said that a unit of the army killed or injured all members of an armed group in al-Waer neighborhood in the city of Homs, while another unit destroyed two cars equipped with heavy machineguns and a rocket launcher in Homs countryside.
The source said that units of the Syrian Arab Army confronted on Sunday a militant group’s attack on Taloul al-Hawa village in the Eastern part of Homs countryside and killed all its members.
Also, the Syrian army repelled an attack by the militants on the strategic Aleppo-Damascus international highway.
The army units pushed back an attack by the terrorists stationed in Kafr Yassin town on the Aleppo-Damascus international highway near Ma’areh Al-Naman in Idlib countryside in the Northwestern parts of the country.
Meantime, the army units attacked several positions of the militants near Al-Salehiya town that was used by the terrorists to monitor the movements of the local residents.
The Syrian army killed several foreign militants in its mop-up operation in Lattakia.
Also, units of the armed forces killed numbers of terrorists, including non-Syrian leaders of terrorist groups, in a number of villages and towns in the Northern countryside of Lattakia, a military source said.
