Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army on Verge of Liberating Hajar Al-Aswad in Southern Damascus
The army, led by their 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division and 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, took the battle to the remaining ISIL terrorists in Hajar al-Aswad, and seized more grounds from the terrorist group after hours of fighting.
With these latest gains, the army has found itself on the brink of liberating all of Hajar al-Aswad.
Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.
Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.
Damascus
The Syrian Army troops stormed the positions of the remaining pockets of ISIL terrorists on Friday and drove the militants out of more areas in Hajar al-Aswad region in the Southern part of Damascus province.
The army, led by their 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division and 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, took the battle to the remaining ISIL terrorists in Hajar al-Aswad, and seized more grounds from the terrorist group after hours of fighting.
With these latest gains, the army has found itself on the brink of liberating all of Hajar al-Aswad.
Once Hajar al-Aswad is liberated, the Syrian Army will be in position to finally launch a full attack on the ISIL-held areas of the Yarmouk Camp.
In a similar development on Thursday, the army forces liberated several important terrorist-occupied points in Hajar al-Aswad region during an anti-ISIL military operation in Southern Damascus.
The army units continued clashes with the ISIL terrorists North of Hajar al-Aswad in Southern Damascus, and imposed control over several buildings, including prisons, field hospitals and terrorists’ command centers.
Field sources said that a large number of ISIL terrorists fled towards Deir Yaseen region North of al-Taqadom district, adding that fierce clashes were underway in the region between the Syrian forces and the ISIL militants.
Meantime, reports said that the Syrian forces advanced in Tarboush region East of Yarmouk refugee camp during clashes with the terrorists.
The Syrian army was about to accomplish the mission in Hajar al-Aswad after winning control of most strategic regions, the sources said.
Hama
Syria’s flags were seen hoisted in a newly-freed town in Southern Hama on Friday following withdrawal of terrorists and their family members from the region.
Units of Internal Security Forces, affiliated to the army, raised the national flag over the town of Aqrab town in Southern Hama after the army ended cleansing operation in region.
Field sources reported on Thursday that 30,000 terrorists and their family members left Northern Homs and Southern Hama in the past 10 days after an agreement with the Syrian army.
They added that after the terrorists’ full withdrawal from the region, 65 towns and villages were liberated by the army and 1,200sq/km of lands in Central Syria were purged of militants.
The sources said that the liberated region links Central Syria to other provinces, adding that the two dams of al-Rastan and Houleh have also been retaken and security prevails over the vital and strategic infrastructures.
