Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army, People Foil Terrorists’ Attack on town of Foeh in Idlib
The Syrian army repelled an attack by Al-Qaeda-linked terrorists on town of Foeh in Idlib countryside in Northwestern Syria.
The army units supported by local people foiled the raid by the Takfiri groups on the Shiite-populated town of Foeh in Idlib countryside for the third time in less than a week.
Tens of militants have been killed and dozens more injured in heavy clashes with the Syrian army.
Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army started advance towards a strategic town in the Damascus countryside after regaining control over Felita and Raas Al-Ma’areh on Sunday and Yabroud region earlier in the month.
Speaking to FNA on Tuesday, a Syrian military source pointed to the army’s plans to regain control over the town of Douma in the Damascus countryside, and said, “Douma is no less important than Yabroud in Al-Qalamoun region.”
Noting the importance of the town of Douma, the source said it is one of the biggest towns in Damascus countryside and controlling it is very important for the army.
The army units began another stage of their military operations in Al-Qalamoun region yesterday.
The Syrian army is now in the final stage of gaining full control over Al-Qalamoun concurrent with its victories in the Lattakia countryside in the Western parts of the country.
Meantime, the Syrian army continued its mop-up operations against foreign-backed militants in Aleppo and Idlib.
A Syrian army unit foiled an infiltration attempt towards Barrakat al-Arman area in Aleppo, killing many militants and injuring others.
In Idlib, army units destroyed a number of militants’ cars, killing all militants inside in Maaret Kafrin and Taftanaz towns.
Elsewhere, the Syrian army launched fresh operations in Al-Qalamoun region in Damascus countryside on Tuesday in a bid to liberate the town of Rankus in the same area.
FNA dispatches said the Syrian air force and artillery units began their military operations against the remaining bases of the militant groups in Rankus before the army’s infantry units advanced in the region.
The Syrian army is now in the final stage of its operations in Al-Qalamoun region concurrent with its victories in the Lattakia countryside in the Western parts of the country.
Meantime, the Syrian army’s advances towards the Lebanese border have blocked all the ways which were previously used for providing the terrorists with weapons and relief aids.
