Syria, Iraq discuss upcoming Baghdad Int’l counterterrorism conference
Syria’s Ambassador in Baghdad Saddam Jadaan al-Dandah discussed with Iraqi Assistant Foreign Minister for Bilateral Relations Affairs Nizar al-Kherallah the upcoming international conference on counterterrorism due to be held in Baghdad.
Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement the two sides highlighted the need to support international and regional efforts for combating terrorism, particularly as Iraq is preparing to host an international conference on counterterrorism in its capital.
An international counterterrorism conference will be held on March 12 and 13th.
Spokesman for the upcoming conference Qassem Attallah said “high-ranking” figures from Russia, US, EU and Arab and Islamic countries are expected to attend it.
Iraqi Foreign Ministry’s statement pointed out that al-Dandah and al-Kherallah discussed mutual relations between the two brotherly countries and means of bolstering them in addition to the importance of activating the joint cooperation.
The statement clarified that the Syrian Ambassador reviewed the latest developments in Syria and the region in general.
