Syria officially grants visas to four OPCW experts to examine Douma attack
Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the UN Bashar Jaafari confirmed that visas were granted to four OPCW experts to travel to Syria as he spoke in New York on Thursday.
Jaafari added: “We will facilitate the arrival of the team to anywhere they want in Douma to check whether or not there was use of chemical substances.”
The Syrian representative also stressed that it is time to ‘digest and metabolise’ the fact that Syria had not used ‘any chemical substances’ against its own people.
On Saturday, the ‘White Helmets’ alleged that chemical-filled munitions were dropped over Douma on April 7 which led to the deaths of up to 70 people. The Russian Ministry of Defence has labelled the claims a ‘fabrication.’
