Syria takes part of the 5th Arab Sustainable Development Week, Cairo

Cairo, SANA- Syria participated in the Activities of the fifth edition of the Arab Sustainable Development Week that launched Sunday at the headquarters of the League of the Arab states in Egyptian capital, Cairo under the theme “Sustainable Solutions for the Future: embracing resilience, adaptability, and progress in the ever-evolving Arab world.”

In his address at the inauguration of the Arab Development Week Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, indicated that the wars waged by the Israeli entity in the region, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon, reduce the opportunities of the peoples to achieve sustainable development.

In a special statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo on the sidelines of the Arab Week, Deputy Chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Committee, Refaat Hejazy, stressed the importance of the exchange of expertise among Arab countries with regard to boosting progress towards sustainable development by 2030.

In a similar statement, Chadi Ali, deputy chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Commission, said: “We have worked to include the UN Sustainable Development Goals in our 2030 national plan, and we are working on the voluntary monitoring reports carried out by Syria at the national and local levels.”

The week’s activities will last for four days, during which the importance of finding practical solutions that would accelerate the pace of implementation will be discussed by strengthening effective partnerships that push towards achieving sustainable development in the Arab region.
