Syria: Terrorist Groups Try to Contaminate Damascus’ Drinking Water
The terrorist contaminated the Ein al-Fijeh spring, a main source of drinking water for Damascus and its suburb, with Mazut fuel, a move that is seen as a blind attack on the civilian population and, hence, labeled as war crime.
Ein al-Fijeh is a village near the town of Qodsiyeh.
The Damascus City Water Supply and Sewerage Company has cut off the water supply line coming from Ein al-Fijeh and started to pump water for the city and its countryside from other sources.
A security official said that this is the first time terrorists carry out such acts, adding, “Terrorist groups used to explode or cut off pipe lines or pumping station in the region.”
“In reaction to the fresh operation of the Syrian army and resistance forces in mountainous region of Wadi al-Bardi, the terrorist groups have now resorted to contaminating Ein al-Fijeh water sources,” he pointed out.
The official went on to say that the Syrian army is trying to take full control of Wadi al-Bardi region in an imminent military operation to force the terrorists to surrender.
Reports said earlier today that the army troops, backed up by the country’s warplanes, continued to beat back Fatah al-Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front) from more positions in Wadi al-Bardi region, inflicting heavy casualties on the militants.
The army men targeted the bases and positions of the terrorists in the villages of Deir Moqren, Kafr al-Zeit, Ein al-Fijeh, Basimeh and Ein al-Khezra, killing a number of militants and destroying their command posts and strongholds.
The army soldiers inflicted 10 casualties on militants in Basimeh in Wadi al-Bardi and managed to advance against terrorists in the region, capturing Kaftaro Complex and Dar al-Aytam in this village.
Clashes are underway between the army soldiers and terrorists near the village of al-Hoseiniyh in Wadi Bardi, while the artillery units are shelling terrorists’ positions, inflicting an unspecified number of casualties on the militants.
Also the army choppers launched heavy attacks on terrorists’ positions in the villages of Ein al-Khezra in Wadi al-Bardi, while other military helicopters hit the terrorists’ gatherings in Basimeh.
The ground troops, meantime, opened fire at militants’ positions in the town of Basimeh.
In the meantime, the terrorist groups’ positions in Ein al-Fijeh region in Damascus province were bombed by the Syrian fighter jets.
