Syria troops continue mop-up, sneak ops across nation
Syrian military forces continued making advances against foreign-backed insurgents in mop-up and sneak operations in towns and villages on the outskirts of Daraa, Aleppo and Damascus countryside.
In a Saturday sneak operation near the town of Daraa, Syrian army units confronted armed militant groups that were attempting to attack a number of government military posts in central prison of Ziraa of Daraa al-Balad, killing a large number of the insurgents and destroying their logistical equipment and vehicles.
According to a military source cited in a Saturday report by state news agency SANA, Syrian troops also eliminated members of another armed group in the vicinity of the water treasurer in Ataman part of Daraa countryside, killing several militants.
In towns and neighborhoods surrounding the city of Aleppo, Syrian army units killed and injured dozens of armed insurgents in al-Sakkari, Bani Zaid, Bustan al-Qaser and al-Jandoul.
The government forces further eliminated a group of armed militants in areas around the Aleppo central prison, including the towns of Kweiris, Rasm al-Abboud, Arbid, Jdeideh, Khan Touman, al-Hajib and the industrial city of al-Bureij, according to a military source cited in a SANA report.
In towns and villages around the Damascus countryside, army units attacked insurgent staging areas and hideouts and eliminated scores of foreign-backed militants belonging to the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front and ISIL terrorist groups in Yabroud, al-Zabadani, Darayya and the Doum District.
Meanwhile, Syrian army engineering units also dismantled more than 10 explosive devices planted by the terrorist groups in city of Der Attia.
