The Syrian Armed Forces targeted the ISIL terrorists’ strongholds in the surrounding areas of Salam al-Qarbi in the Central Homs province, and forced the fighters to retreat from their positions, military sources announced.
The sources said that several members of the ISIL terrorist group were killed or wounded in the army’s operations in the Eastern countryside of Homs city, in Salam al-Qarbai.
The sources added that the army men are now fortifying their new position in the abovementioned battlefield.
On Tuesday, the Syrian army pressed ahead with its military campaign against foreign-backed militants on the outskirts of Homs, inflicting major losses on the Takfiri groups.
The government troops made gains in their fight against the militants in al-Ghantu in Homs province, leaving large groups of them dead and injured.
Syria has been the scene of armed and bloody conflicts since March 2011. According to the UN’s latest report, more than 191, 000 people have been killed in the Arab country since the start of the battle. Countries like US and Saudi Arabia have played a significant role in promoting insurgency in the country by massive funding of the Takfiri-Wahhabi terrorists.
