Syrian Army advances in key town outside Damascus
The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division, alongside the Republican Guard, continued their large-scale offensive in the key town of Darayya on Wednesday morning, as they seized several buildings inside the Association Quarter.
A military source inside of Darayya told Al-Masdar News on Wednesday morning that the battle began when the Syrian Armed Forces launched a barrage of artillery shells and missiles towards Ajnad Al-Sham’s defenses, damaging their headquarters in the Association Quarter.
Following the shelling, the Syrian Armed Forces stormed Ajnad Al-Sham’s first line of defense in the Association Quarter, resulting a fierce battle on Wednesday morning.
The Syrian Armed Forces recently began a new military operation to capture the central district of Darayya; however, this cannot be done without securing much of the Association Quarter’s eastern neighborhoods.
