Syrian Army Captures Al-Tanimiyah Checkpoint in South Jisr Al-Shughour
The Syrian Arab Army has recaptured the strategic Al-Tanimiyah Checkpoint near the village of Al-Sirmaniyah after militants from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Muhajireen took over this area earlier this week.
As of Friday, the SAA’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division is now less than a kilometer from the village of Al-Sirmaniyah; if the Syrian Armed Forces are successful in capturing this village in south Jisr Al-Shughour, they will have reversed much of the Islamist gains in the southern part of the district.
Moments ago, an Islamist suicide bomber attempted to ram his vehicle into the Jisr Al-Shughour National Hospital, where his comrades have continuously attacked the southern and western flanks in order to force out the SAA soldiers entrenched inside this medical facility.
However, the suicide attack by the unknown assailant was repelled, as his bomb detonated before it could impact the SAA’s frontline fortifications; this forced the militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra to withhold their attack due to the large presence of SAA soldiers in the vicinity of the hospital.
