Syrian Army completes last preparations for southern Syria offensive: pro-gov’t commander
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has completed its last preparations for their imminent offensive in southern Syria, a pro-government commander told Reuters News Agency today.
“The Syrian Army will wage all the battles and has now become strong and capable,” the commander told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss military plans.
While the Syrian Army may be ready to launch their offensive, several divisions and thousands of soldiers participating in this upcoming operation have yet to arrive in the Dara’a Governorate.
In particular, the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces have not yet deployed to Dara’a and will not likely arrive in the province until Ramadan ends.
Furthermore, negotiations are still ongoing between the joint Russian-Syrian delegation and rebel forces in several towns inside of Dara’a.
Once Ramadan and these negotiations conclude, the Syrian Army is expected to kickoff this long-awaited offensive.
