Syrian army continues mop-up operations against militants
The Syrian army continues its operations against the foreign-backed militants across the country, inflicting heavy losses on them.
Syrian soldiers killed and injured a number of militants in several areas, including Hanano, Baeidin, al-Jandoul, al-Castello, al-Lairamoun, al-Mansoura, Tal Showehneh, al-Dweihi, and Bayanoun in Aleppo, the official SANA news agency reported on Tuesday.
Army units also foiled an infiltration attempt by militants in Karam al-Tarrab and al-Maysar in Aleppo, killing many of them and injuring several others.
Syrian troops also stormed militant hideouts in the countryside of Idlib, killing and injuring scores of them and destroying their weaponry and ammunition.
Elsewhere, in Tal Qatri in the countryside of Homs, Syrian army units inflicted heavy losses on the militants who were attempting to attack a military checkpoint.
Syrian government forces also clashed with militants in several areas in the countryside of Daraa, killing many of them.
Over the past months, the Syrian army has achieved major victories in its battle against Takfiri groups across the Arab country, particularly in the Qalamoun region near the Lebanese border.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011. According to reports, Western powers and their regional allies – especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey – are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
