Syrian army forces recapture town near Damascus
The Syrian army has reportedly retaken the control of a town in the eastern countryside of the capital, Damascus.
The Syrian troops on Friday pushed back the foreign-backed militants from Htaitet Jarash during an operation aimed at liberation of the eastern Damascus suburb of Jobar, where intense battles have been raging for over a week.
According to Beirut-based al-Mayadeen, the victory enables the government troops to cut the militant supply lines between the towns of Jisrin and Zibdin in the eastern countryside of Damascus.
The army said the operation was launched to flush the militants out of the strategic area of Jobar, which had been used as a launch pad for many attacks on the capital.
Over the past months, the Syrian army has made major gains in its battle against Takfiri groups across the country.
