Syrian Army gets in position to launch Jisr Al-Shughour offensive
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to launch their long-awaited Jisr Al-Shughour offensive after several months of planning.
Since the conclusion of their southern Syria operations, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces division has begun moving their troops north to the Al-Ghaab Plain, where they plan to commence their upcoming offensive.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Tiger Forces have already begun observing the Jisr Al-Shughour area in a bid to identify potential jihadist hideouts and trenches.
As shown in the picture below, the Tiger Forces are observing the area from the mountains in northeast Latakia:
In the coming weeks, the Tiger Forces will begin their push towards Jisr Al-Shughour, while their allies from the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Armored Division start their offensive in northeast Latakia.
Jisr Al-Shughour is a strategic city that is located in the southwestern countryside of the Idlib Governorate; it is currently under the control of the Turkestan Islamic Party and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.
