The Syrian military launched their largest attack against the militants in the eastern Qalamoun region of Damascus, yesterday, a source told Al-Masdar News.

Led by their Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army unleashed a large barrage of missiles and artillery shells into the eastern Qalamoun region on Wednesday, causing considerable damage to the militant defenses near the key town of Jayroud.

The Syrian Army would then storm Jaysh Thuwar Al-Sham’s positions in the eastern Qalamoun, scoring a new advance amid heavy resistance from the militant forces in this region.

While the Syrian Army attempts to advance on the ground, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) was ruling the skies over the eastern Qalamoun on Wednesday.

The Syrian Air Force reportedly launched over 40 airstrikes above the eastern Qalamoun region in a bid to force Jaysh Thuwar Al-Sham to reconsider reconciliation talks with the Russian military.

The ultimate goal of this offensive is to apply enough pressure on Jaysh Thuwar Al-Sham to not only reconsider reconciliation talks, but to also accept the same deal that was offered to the Ahmad Al-‘Abdo Brigade.
