Syrian army liberates strategic areas of military academies in Aleppo
Syrian Army troops along with militias completely liberated from terrorists the territory of the Air Force school and logistics support college in the south of Aleppo, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the scene.
Another stage of the military assault in the areas of higher military institutions began on Sunday night. At the moment, only a part of the artillery school remains under the control of terrorists.
“Air Force school and logistics support college are [under] our [control]. It is necessary to clean up the artillery [school]. This is an important and strategic step for the liberation of the entire city of Aleppo from terrorists,” a brigade commander of a militia group told RIA Novosti.
Syria has been mired in war since 2011, with government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups. On February 27, a US-Russia brokered ceasefire came into force in Syria. Terrorist groups, which maintain a heavy presence in Aleppo, are not part of the deal.
