Syrian Army on the move in Idlib
On Monday morning, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in cooperation with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – has made fresh gains in the village of Rouma after capturing 3 axis points in the western quarter.
At Ariha (Jericho), the SAA’s 11th Tank Division repelled the Islamic Front (Jabhat Al-Islamiyya) attack on the outskirts of this city, resulting in the loyalist forces securing all perimeters that were susceptible to the militant assault.
Fierce clashes engulfed Jabal Al-‘Arba’een (40th Mountain, as the Al-Qaeda linked “Al-Nusra Front” (Jabhat Al-Nusra) continues to lose ground to the pressing 11th Tank Division, who has recently begun an offensive geared at retaking this mountainous area, while also breaking the militant assault on Ariha.
The Al-Nusra Front is on the offensive at the Abu Dhuhour Military Airbase, where they continue to launch attacks on the SAA’s positions at the eastern perimeter from the village of Al-Hamidiyyeh.
Despite their resistance, the SAA entrenched at the airbase face a difficult challenge ahead, as the Al-Nusra Front has the area surrounded and reinforcements pouring in from nearby villages; if they can hold their positions until the possible capture of Khan Sheikhoun, they could conceivably break the siege.
