Syrian Army restores calm in Homs City after intense fighting
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and jihadist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) have been involved in several clashes this week inside the provincial capital of the Homs Governorate. These clashes were reported inside the Al-Wa’er District after the jihadists opened fire on local citizens inside Homs City. As a result of Jabhat Al-Nusra’s aggression in Al-Wa’er, the Syrian Armed Forces carried out their first cleansing operation that sought to expel the jihadists causing problems inside the district.
Luckily, local committees intervened to quell the fighting and mediate between the two opposing parties. Following the intervention, the Syrian Armed Forces restored calm to the area and allowed civilians in Al-Wa’er to travel outside the district for the first time in several days.
