Syrian Army resumes offensive in southern Raqqa
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their offensive operations in the southern countryside of Al-Raqqa, Wednesday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIL) positions south of Resadfa.
Led by their elite Tiger Forces and Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the collection of villages south of Resafa this morning, resulting in another fierce battle with the Islamic State militants in this part of southern Al-Raqqa.
Preliminary reports from this front indicate that the Syrian Arab Army has advanced against the Islamic State forces, killing and wounding scores of terrorist combatants.
The Syrian Arab Army is currently pushing south of Raqqa City in a new bid to reach the Homs Governorate’s border, where the Islamic State’s stronghold of Al-Sukhnah is located.
