The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has resumed their offensive field operations in the rural parts of Deir Ezzor this week, following two major attacks by the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).

Led by their 5th Legion and 17th Reserve Division, the Syrian Arab Army launched several attacks against the Islamic State this morning, striking the terrorist group’s positions near the towns of Al-Salihiyah, Al-Kashmah, Al-Duweir, and Sabikhan.

Thus far, the Syrian Army has been able to clear several Islamic State hideouts, while also capturing a large cache of weapons that belonged to the terrorist group.

The Syrian Army is seeking to clear the terrorist group’s sleeper cells that are believed to be located inside several towns in the Euphrates River Valley.

Prior to today’s attack by the Syrian Army, the Islamic State had been on the offensive in several areas, seizing several points from the US-backed forces and SAA in many areas around the Euphrates River.
